Trim Levels (Exterior)
The new Silverado has seven different available trim levels, and each one has some interesting exterior features to offer. At the base WT level, the Silverado is outfitted with a rear bumper corner step and 17-inch wheels. Upgrade to the Custom, and the Silverado boasts 20-inch wheels with LED cargo bed lights. Meanwhile, the LT offers LED headlights.
With the RST trim, you get into the territory of more upscale Silverado trucks, as it comes with fog lights and sporty body-colored bumpers. The LTZ takes this even further with chrome bumpers. With the High Country trim, the Silverado is set up more for off-roading with its all-terrain tires. Finally, the ZR2 trim has all-terrain tires too, but it also sports skid plate protection for better performance off the beaten path.
Engine (Power)
Your Silverado can be powered by one of four engines, and they all have some serious power to offer. Even the base 2.7-liter turbocharged inline-four engine produces an impressive 310 horsepower with 420 pound-feet of torque. If you're looking for something more, the V-8 engines may be preferable. The 5.3-liter V-8 variant offers 355 horsepower with 383 pound-feet of torque, while the 6.2-liter variant boasts 420 horsepower with 460 pound-feet of torque. Finally, the Silverado's diesel engine is a 3.0-liter inline-six that produces 277 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque.
Performance
The key to performance in any truck is its capability, and the new Silverado is certainly no exception in that regard. It offers a maximum towing capacity of 13,300 pounds when outfitted with the right gear and engine. Even with the less-powerful V-8, you can still get a towing capacity of 11,500 pounds. In terms of payload, the Silverado offers 2,280 pounds at most with a minimum of 1,870 pounds.
Interior
Inside the Silverado, you'll find an inviting interior outfitted with impressive technology and plenty of interior space. The space is particularly impressive when you consider the 43.4 inches of rear legroom in the crew cab Silverado. Of course, the tech has much to offer too, especially the 13.4-inch infotainment touchscreen that comes with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration.
Safety Features
Any vehicle manufacturer that wants to stay competitive these days will need to offer some state-of-the-art safety features, and that's exactly what you can expect from the new Silverado. Even from the base level, it comes with forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking in addition to blind-spot monitoring. You can also drive with confidence knowing that the Silverado earned five stars for its overall safety rating after crash tests by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
