More than 27 types of donuts are available every day to tempt you. Our favorites are the Devil’s food and the jelly-filled, but you are certain to find your special donut here.
In addition to donuts, cinnamon rolls, apple strudel, and fritters are also on the menu. Old Town has also been voted as having the best donuts in St. Louis by Post Despatch and in a KDSK poll.
The Mud House
Don’t be fooled by the unusual name, Mud House is a staple of St Louis life and a great choice for either breakfast or brunch. They are open daily from 7 am to 2 pm, and choices vary from granola with fresh fruit, to the spicy tofu scramble. Breakfast sandwiches and burritos are also served, and vegan options are readily available.
Our choice is the mudslinger, a delicious dish made of roasted potatoes, vegetarian black bean chili, cheddar, and red onion, with two sunny-side eggs on top. Be sure to pay them a visit at 2101 Cherokee Street.
Southwest Diner
If you are looking for breakfast with a Southwest twist, this diner is the place to go. Country fried steak, carne adovada, and huevos rancheros are just some of the traditional Southwestern meals on their menu. For their most popular breakfast or brunch choice, and our favorite, try the New Mexico breakfast burrito with longhorn cheddar, scrambled eggs, and home fries and your choice of meat or veggies.
They are located at 6803 Southwest Avenue, and open Monday and Friday from 7 am to 2 pm, and Friday and Saturday from 8 am to 2 pm.
Russell’s On Macklind
Open for brunch from 9 am to 2 pm, Tuesday to Sunday, Russell’s focuses on light, healthy brunch fare. Lola Jean’s egg sandwich with scrambled eggs, smoked bacon, Swiss cheese, and smoked paprika aioli on a homemade bun is extremely popular. There is also a wide selection of sandwiches, salads, and burgers to satisfy a larger appetite.
On weekends, the menu is expanded with biscuits, biscuits and gravy, and cinnamon rolls. Reservations are advised on weekends, as they get very busy.
