Saint Louis Zoo

As an official member of the Association of Zoos and Aquariums, the St. Louis zoo attracts over 3 million visitors per year. It is home to an array of animals which include sea creatures and large cats and acts as a refuge for endangered species. The zoo itself is massive as it was designed to give the 17,000 animals that live there plenty of space to roam and enjoy life, so you may not see it all in one trip.

Big Joel’s Safari

If you’re looking for a more up-close-and-personal animal experience with the kids, Big Joel’s Safari has got the goods! This animal petting zoo opened its doors in 2012 and is owned by two members of the Zoological Association of America. Visitors can pet, ride, and feed some of the animals under the close supervision of a trained zoo staff member. Informational guides are also on-site at the zoo’s educational center. There are plenty of places to eat nearby as well.

City Museum

This once 600,000 square-foot shoe warehouse has been refurbished and is now a glorious site full of artifacts and exhibitions. Kids will love exploring the museum and venturing through secret passages to discover playgrounds and climbers. Food options are plentiful and quite delicious, so you’ll have no problem enjoying a full day of educational stimulation and fun with the family.

Grant’s Farm

This wildlife preserve is also a historical landmark that is home to over 900 animals across 100 different species. The farm was named after former president Ulysses S. Grant and is free for anyone to visit. Special events are hosted throughout the year which draws visitors from across the state. But if you’re looking for a little less densely-populated day trip, there is still plenty to see and do when visiting on a regular day.

Playtime Party Center

While it originally was designed for kids when it first opened, the Playtime Party Center now attracts people of all ages and is full of fun activities. This 18,000 square foot complex features laser tag, bowling, a virtual rock wall, and much more. The laser tag arena alone is 4000 square feet, so channel your inner sniper and get ready to pick off your opponents one by one. There’s also a toddler playground for families with young children.

The Magic House

The Magic House is a children’s museum that opened its doors in 1979. Back then, it only measured around  5,500 square feet, however, over the years, many expansions were made and today the Magic House spans over 50,000 square feet. It’s the perfect place for children to learn and have fun simultaneously. There are countless exhibits to keep them entertained and learning!
