The Trax is the smallest SUV in the Chevy lineup. It offers the driver an elevated seating position for an excellent view of the road, and it has a spacious cabin for its class. For the 2021 model year, Chevy streamlined the trim lineup, reducing it to the LS and LT models, but added some new packages for extra features and comfort. Take a spin in the 2021 Chevy Trax.
The Exterior Look
The small Trax has a tall profile and wide stance to give it a confident look from the outside. It comes in the LS and LT trim levels, and both have 16-inch alloy wheels and remote keyless entry. Step up to the LT for roof rails, a luggage rack, LED running lights, body-colored and heated side exterior mirrors, and LED accent lights in the taillights. Chevy offers a Midnight Edition for the Trax, which has 18-inch gloss black alloy wheels, dark exterior trim elements, and black skid plates in the front and back.
The Engine and Performance
Both Trax trims get power from a 1.4-liter turbo four-cylinder engine with 138 horsepower. Chevy pairs this engine with a six-speed automatic transmission that smoothly gets you up to cruising speed and contributes to the excellent fuel economy. You can expect to get up to 31 mpg on the highway with a front-wheel drive Trax. Opting for all-wheel drive reduces this to 29 mpg on the highway.
The engine has plenty of power for this small SUV, and when you need to slide into small spaces or zip around crowded urban areas, you can’t do better than this compact Chevy.
The Technology
A 7-inch touch screen sits in the Trax’s dashboard, along with Chevy’s latest Infotainment 3 system with voice controls and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility. Bluetooth comes standard, and even the entry-level LS has satellite radio, two USB ports, and OnStar with a 4G LTE Wi-Fi hot spot.
The Cabin Features
The two rows of seats in the Trax have room for five passengers. The upright design means there is a good amount of headroom in both rows. In the back, the cargo area has 18.7-cubic feet of space, and this expands to over 48 cubic feet if you fold the rear seats down. The front passenger seat also folds down flat to make room for longer cargo items.
A four-way manually adjustable driver’s seat comes in the LS. Bumping up to the LT gets you the option for a power-adjustable driver’s seat, along with faux-leather upholstery and heated front seats.
The Safety Features
Both Trax models come standard with a rearview camera, ten air bags, and a steel safety cage. The LT offers the option for Chevy’s Driver Confidence Package with a blind-spot monitor, rear parking sensors, and rear cross-traffic alert.
The 2021 Chevy Trax has everything you need for zipping around town in style. It has the perfect amount of head and legroom for people and a surprisingly spacious cargo area. It also comes with the latest technology to keep you connected.
