The standard engine is a gasoline-powered 6.6-liter V-8 that is upgradeable to a turbo-diesel 6.6-liter V-8, both of which have 10-speed automatic transmissions. You also have a choice of rear-wheel or 4-wheel drive and single or dual rear-wheel axle.
The maximum towing capacity for the gas engine is 17,400 and 36,000 for the diesel. Even the regular cab with dual-rear-wheel axle can pull up to 7,442 pounds in its strongest version, though.

All 2024 Silverado 3500s have innovative standard safety features, such as:
